例：1. If he were rich, he would buy the bank.

（他若是有錢，他會買這間銀行。）

例：2. If I had time, I would study French.

（我若有時間，就要學法文。）

例：3. If I could fly, I would fly to London.

（我若能飛，我要飛去倫敦。）

(四)Be動詞，不論人稱，一律用were，如：

If I were a bird,......

If you were here,......

If he were rich,......

例：1.     If he had studied hard, he could have won the scholarship.

（假如他當時用功，他可能已經得了獎學金。）

〔但他當時沒有用功，所以他沒有得到獎學金。〕

例： 2.   If I had had enough time, I would have gone abroad with you.

（假如當時我有足夠的時間，我會跟你出國。）
