動名詞的慣用句型

不可能∕無法

There is no＋V-ing＝It is impossible＋to V.

【例句】

There is no knowing what may happen to us.

（無法知道會（在我們身上）發生什麼事。）

＝It is impossible to know what may happen to us.

 ……是無用的

It is no use＋V-ing

＝It is useless＋to V.

＝It is of no use＋to V.

【例句】

It is no use trying to persuade him. 嘗試說服他是沒用的。

＝It is useless to try to persuade him.

＝It is of no use to try to persuade him.

花費

人＋spend＋錢∕時間＋(in) V-ing∕on＋N.（主詞是人）

S.＋take＋……＋時間＋to＋V（常以虛主詞it或動名詞開頭）

S.＋cost＋錢＋to V.（常以虛主詞it或動名詞開頭）

【例句】

She spends ten years working on this program.（她花了十年運作這項計畫。）

＝It takes her ten years to work on this program.

（運作這項計畫花了她十年。（虛主詞it））

＝Working on this program takes her ten years.

（運作這項計畫花了她十年。（事情為主詞））

It costs me two hundred dollars to get a cup of coffee.

（一杯咖啡花了我兩百塊。）

＝A cup of coffee costs me two hundreds dollars.

注意》的前一句以虛主詞開頭，不定詞當補語。第二句以東西為主詞。Cost和take都不能以人為主詞。

7.  對做……有困難∕容易

S.＋have a good time/have trouble ＋(in) V-ing

【例句】

Some people have difficulty talking about themselves.（有些人不擅於談論自己。）

I had a hard time learning English in the beginning as you do.

（我和你一樣，在學習英文的初期遭遇困難。）
